Who We Are
Petaluma Valley Baptist Church is a local church of Jesus followers whose lives have been changed and transformed by the love of God, by the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the by ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. We place a high priority on the teaching of God’s Word, prayer, worship, fellowship, missions, sacrificial giving, and loving God and loving our neighbor (Acts 2:42-47).
Our core values are Loving God, Loving People, Everywhere We Go. We believe that receiving and knowing God’s love and finding our identity in Him, loving each other and our neighbor sacrificially, and loving God and loving people everywhere we go no matter who they are or where they are from creates in us a spiritual foundation in Jesus and set of practices that we can build our lives and families upon.
In addition to personal spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, worship, obedience to God, service, and ministry, we encourage three core commitments as a church of participating in weekly worship gatherings together, being involved in some kind of small group, and engaging in some kind of ministry to others. We want everyone to be connected with God and other people so we can press in to a growing personal relationship with Jesus, press on with all that God has called us to do, and go out to be the loving presence of Jesus to our neighbors, all to the glory of God!
While we are a Baptist church, we also follow an abbreviated form of the liturgical church calendar from Advent to Pentecost so we can root our contemporary spiritual practices in ancient Christian observances to better help us live out and tell the gospel story found in Scripture.
Petaluma Valley Baptist is a church for people of all ages, ethnicity, and cultures. We believe that Jesus makes all things new through the miracle of His resurrection and the life change that He gives us. We have more modern worship at 9 AM with Children’s Church accompanying, and a more traditional service at 11 AM that caters more to our older members, though all are welcome.
In Christ,
